Interesting couple days in the markets as the GFS and Euro weather models actually agreed that there is a really good chance of rains for the US corn belt. Now it’s a matter of follow through to see if this actually plays out and how much rain actually falls.

MY 2 Cents June 27/23
Well it was a wild weekend that could have started the week out with grains going limit up Sunday night. A possible coup attempt in Russia over the weekend was quickly turned around which could have made for an interesting trade Sunday night.

Markets were somewhat choppy as its looking like it may have hit the top end for now. Corn and soybeans took some heavier losses while the wheat market overall was relatively flat.

My 2 Cents June 22/23
Markets made some more big moves higher as crop ratings in the US dropped more than the trade estimates. Also we saw a weaker USD and there was also talks of lower than expected biofuel blends which didn’t so much effect soybeans but hit soybean oil and canola pretty hard.

It was more or less a quiet day in the markets as it awaited the crop progress report to come out. Canola on the other hand had a mixed day which at the range between the low and the high was about $20/mt but once the overnight trade opened it took a real beating lower more so on new crop.

Markets finished the week off with a bang so to speak as it headed for a long weekend in the US. Corn and soybeans were pushing higher and wheat was just along for the ride as right now there is no concerns so far for the wheat market.

Wheat and canola made some pretty decent gains yesterday with corn and soybeans carrying them higher. Some are saying we are in a weather rally which I wouldn’t rule out but its not solely following weather.

Markets were mostly lower on the day with the exception of one commodity and that’s oats which finished the day up $0.12. This is interesting as oats are either two weeks behind the market or two weeks ahead and no one really knows which one it is.

Was yet another interesting day in markets with soybeans doing the heavy lifting and carrying up the other grains. Spring wheat and KC wheat were in the green to start the day but came under pressure while CBOT wheat managed to hold onto gains.
